Hello Kitty Mask
I actually write this post with some relief (if it is possible to write anything about Hello Kitty with relief). Eve sent some photos over about a Hello Kitty Halloween mask:
Why the relief? I spent the entire Halloween season dreading that my wife would find a Hello Kitty costume and insist on wearing it. In Japan, Halloween isn’t celebrated and the whole costume concept is still a bit new so I tipped-toed around making sure that the Hello Kitty Halloween costume didn’t get mentioned. Luckily, Eve was kind enough not to pass these along until after Halloween was over.
As with all things in Hello Kitty Hell, however, the relief comes with a big asterisk by its side. Now that my wife has seen “that utterly adorable costume” I think that Halloween next year is going to be one for the record books. It may be even worse than that — wife: “wouldn’t it be really cute if I wore that around the house?”
I’m praying that was just a passing thought and not a real question…

Ya know, I think that bottom mask is one of those that people wear to cover their mouths when they have a cold. I have seen them before. Just think…. you could wear it any day of the year whether it’s Halloween time or not. hehe

Being a Hello Kitty fan myself I find this very amusing, I thought i went overboard but your wife has taken it to an “all new high”. I dont know if you’ve seen the necklace that matches that ring, or the zodiac sign pendants they make at neiman’s or have you?

Isn’t sort of convenient that in Halloween someone wears a Hello Kitty costume? Those blank staring eyes and emotionless face is enough to freak out even the steel-nerved seasoned war veterans.
I find this whole Hello Kitty somewhat disturbing phenomenom. Someone drop me a note when it ends?

When I was 5 I had a Hello Kitty costume, but it wasn’t that bad. It was a pink princess type dress with white kitty ears, now looking back it’s kinda cute!
I kind of like Hello Kitty, but I couldn’t live with too much, a little is ok.

Okay, I’m just putting this out there as an idea to toss around.
You say your wife gets upset when you are anything less than boundlessly devoted to the kitty. Much the same way she reacts when you are anything less than boundlessly devoted to her.
You say that she feels she has ‘the heart of Hello Kitty’. She wears Hello Kitty moichandise into the conjugal bed. Now she wants to wear a kitty-mask around the house.
Have you considered the possibility that your wife *thinks she is Hello Kitty*?
