Hello Kitty MAC Cosmetics

I have absolutely no desire to write about this and would rather completely ban them from my mind, but the readers here obviously have no intention of letting me do that. Now that the emails are coming in at several a day, I’m simply posting this so that the emails stop! For anyone that doesn’t know, MAC is coming out with a line of Hello Kitty cosmetics:

hello-kitty-mac-2

hello-kitty-mac

hello-kitty-mac-1

Now, in most instances Hello Kitty make-up wouldn’t be something that would get me in much of a Hello Kitty Hell tizzy since the truth is that on the scale of Hello Kitty Hell, cosmetics usually rank pretty low on the list of things that torture me. When that Hello Kitty cosmetic line runs over $1000 ($1,179.50) for everything in it and I know my wife will be getting it all, there is definitely a reason that I don’t want to talk about it. Of course, that’s not including any of the replacements which will be anything that she actually uses even once, so I figure it’s pretty much a done deal that she will buy at least 2 of everything. Or the fact that I’ll have to listen to how wonderful all this make-up is for the following 2 months after it’s released. Yep, one more of the joys to look forward to living in hello Kitty Hell…

Sent in by far, far too many people for far, far too many days in a row for the world to be a healthy place. All of you should be forced to buy this crap and not use it (keep it for your collection like my wife) for thinking that in any way, shape, or form sending this information to me could ever result in anything good in the world…

    I love Hello Kitty, but I think MAC is really over priced and over rated. I don’t think I’ll get any of those…

  • Allen says:

    I never even heard of MAC (but i don’t wear makeup, so its understandable). But that first picture of the doll-creature-thing is scary as hell.

  • susana says:

    that’s great, more hello kitty stuff to be on next years sales… lol

  • Sharon says:

    In BLACK? It looks for all the world like a closeup photo of an ant. Creepy…

  • Rhianimator says:

    The girl in the picture looks like she has her out of view hand on a Van de Graaf generator and is just trying to build up enough of a static electric charge to ZZZZZZot!!! you into oblivion for her HK Mistress.

  • darlene says:

    What is wrong with you? Your wife wants to look good for you and all you can do is complain about it. You probably want her to go around wearing cheap make-up so that she gets rashes and looks terrible. It would be nice if you showed a bit of appreciation for all that she does to make you happy.

    One day you will realize that all your complaining is unmanly and unseemly. A real man would support his wife 100% and want her to look her best. It just goes to show what a cheap and tightwad you really are.

    It also shows why you hate Hello Kitty. She has so much more class than you do that all you can be is jealous. You can say all the bad things you want, but when it all comes from you being so far below Hello Kitty’s class and style, it really is pathetic.

  • Catherine says:

  • Catherine says:

    I’m a girly girl and I’m a little excited… ;)

  • andophiroxia says:

    So Hello Kitty is black? What? What I thought she was white with bright colors.

    EVIL CHAMELEON!

    /Actually I’d just probably get the HK ‘doll’, but it would probably be worth 10000000X than what I’m willing to pay for it.

    I kind of hate makeup collections as they don’t have the shades I like or want or need-unless they have you pick it. I just hate perfectly good makeup lying around unused because I can’t use it cuz the color’s not good on me.

  • Crystal says:

    YAY!
    My 2 favorite things in the world, combined!
    I will be getting it all! Thanks for the heads up, I’m deployed right now, so I’ve been out of the loop for a little bit. I assume HK is black because MAC’s standard packaging is and has always been, well, black. It makes sense. I like it.

  • Binks says:

    @ Catherine – so when does it come out and do you have to buy the whole collection? I love MAC stuff.

    Whoa —- when did Darlene get back?

  • Stephanie says:

    It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t MAC makeup. Can’t stand the stuff.

  • Lauren says:

    I love the collection simply because it is mac. There will be a few things that I may buy. This is a MAC take on hello kitty…if it were the orginal white kitty it would make me vomit.

    Screw hello kitty knick knacks, they suck.

  • kolleen says:

    i love MAC. this is amazing.

  • Acton says:

    Mostly harmless I do not were mark-up nor have any desire to lead a big hair, 80′s arena rock revival.

  • kellyjanice says:

    I do have to say I think MAC is the best makeup there is. I swear by their eyeshadow and haven’t found a better mascara either. Not to mention the fact that I love hello kitty but there is no way I am spending over $1000 on everything… guess I will have to ask for it piece by piece over the next holidays.

  • silentbob says:

    Not to take a dig on women as a whole but training women to use this stuff at an early age is just wrong.
    by wearing make up you are effectively lying to everyone around you. Women used makeup to present themselves as more genetically acceptable to the local group than they really are. Face it, if you are so insecure that you need this stuff then great but this is instilling these insecurites in a younger generation.
    Yes i can hear the ” kill the bastard comments now”
    So for gods sake if you have children please dont screw their heads up with both marketing giants. AKA Hello Kitty and MAC

  • sansicarus says:

    @Catherine

    Well, if you get all that stuff in the box, it’s definitely worth over a grand.

  • Nance says:

    H&M has a cute HK cosmetics line… very cute and affordable…

  • Catherine says:

    @Binks
    It comes out here in the States Feb 12 (just in time for Valentines Day!) No you don’t have to buy it as an entire kit. You just buy the items you want, eye shadow, compact, lip glass, etc.

    @Sansicarus
    Nah, it wouldn’t be $1000. for everything (I don’t think). The HK choch-ky stuff is silly, but I could use a great pink HK lip gloss. What girly girl can’t? ;)

  • Catherine says:

    @Silentbob
    “Women used makeup to present themselves as more genetically acceptable to the local group than they really are.”
    You clearly are an idiot!

  • moriyah says:

    Damnitt! Nothing is free from her evil clutches…

    MAC is a cosmetic vein for me… Wide range of colors that are easily mixed etc. Now the evil feline has corrupted the purity that was MAC (ok, over doing it a bit, but you get the picture).

    The worst part is that the colors in this line are colors I would wear. Gah… hate the HK marketing machine. Seriously.

  • moriyah says:

    @kellyjanice: Check out the mascara line by Chanel. Trumps MAC mascara any day. :)

  • sabree says:

    I love hello kitty and would love to own this stuff, however that is far out of my price range. :/

  • Vy says:

    I usually read stuff here and agree that most of it is useless, but ah, the Hello Kitty MAC make up is a must have! That’s something that I actually would buy if I lived in the US or had the money to, unlike the rest of stuff that I find cute but wouldn’t seriously buy…

  • MainaCate says:

    Obviously Darlene does not have a man in her life. Of course they want us women to look good, but at what price? MAC is overrated, and paying more than $20 for one item of makeup is silly. If she happens to be married, I pity the poor man…they’re probably broke because she thinks the drugstore branded items will make her face break out in festering pustules. A real man has opinions of his own and a life outside the house. If every man/woman supported his/her spouse 100% all the time, the world would be in dire straights. So Darlene, I invite you to find a man, a job, and a hobby. Maybe you’ll then realize that Hello Kitty isn’t real. While the message she personifies is a good one, even kitty crap stinks.

  • Kisa says:

    Wow.. photoshop FAIL on the models face..
    it’s obviously smudged over, with a little bit of blur, and some burn tool thrown in too. o.O;;

  • Catherine says:

    @Moriyah
    You’ve got to buy something!

  • Lauren says:

    That’s funny. I have a huge make-up collection, and I have a boyfriend. I’m far from insecure and I’m not your typical stereo-type of a makeup snob or drama queen. I’m a makeup artist that happens to love M-A-C as well as other products (Prescriptives, MUFE, NARS…etc). When you use a foundation that is cheaper than $15, you’re jeopardizing your skin- being prone to breaking out, allergic reaction, skin dryness. The cheaper the makeup, the more expensive it is to fix the problems you may eventually have due to using drugstore products. The same follows with blush, and any other powder product. A lot of those products contain higher levels of alcohol, harmful talc, and many other items that your skin shouldn’t be in contact with.

    Whether you prefer to be bare-faced or Las Vegas Showgirl, I love skin no matter what. It’s what I do. I’m a licensed esthetician.

    Make-up is an expressive art. The marketing department @ M*A*C was mainly targeting older females 21+ that grew up with love for Hello Kitty…the cosmetics appeals to the younger generation. However, who’s got the money to spend on the collection? We do.

    If anyone has low self-esteem, it’s you trying to knock Darlene. Shame on you.
    I’m not one of those gung-ho hello kitty fans…I think spending way too much money on something so trite should be labeled more than an addiction. If it isn’t something that you can put to great use. You don’t need it.

    And poor hello kitty guy that is suffering, I feel for you. When people marry, you have to share everything- including finances. I hope that your wife gets over buying tons of kitty krap. Hello Kitty is cute and all, but an excess of the kitty is purely a sin…it’s really a prime example of how some people in America consume in a really bad way.

  • Leanne says:

    People who whine about the price of mac makeup are silly. Mac is really not that expensive. If you are a make-up artist, or love make-up, drug store brands won’t cut it.

  • Trish says:

    Be reassured that the MAC collection will be limited edition, so she will most likely just buy it once and save it.

  • marisa says:

    although i adore hello kitty-i just got her from build a bear on sunday (perhaps i should send you a picture )

    i am not goign to spend money on overpriced makeup

  • monkey says:

    darlene,
    you’re probably not going to read this, but you make my co-worker with the same name look crazy. stop using her NAME! and why are you beating up hkh? he already stated that he doesn’t like hello kitty. this is just a blog where he has the ability to state his opinion thanks to the first amendment of freedom of speech. you keep threatening to leave yet you come back. is this your “drug” is this where you come to get your daily “hit” or “fix” each day? you know you’re free to leave and not read this blog at all. you, yourself is like a cat with nine lives. you keep disappearing yet, keep coming back to life.

    darlene, please don’t come back and bring your “holier than thou” attitude. everyone knows what you’re going to say before you say it. if you’re so in love with hello kitty start your own blog as others have stated and write a positive spin on each item. you are just one annoying lady who likes to be debbie downer.

  • Kitteh!! says:

    @ Ando…, I think you meant that the doll would be priced at 10_000 times what you’d be prepared to pay; it’s probably worth what you’d pay! ;)

    @ Catherine, I’m sorry but Silent Bob actually has the historical purpose behind the use of cosmetics pretty much correct. If you don’t like that idea, look the subject up in an encyclopaedia, rather than flaming people.

    And finally, is the model supposed to be “HK Blonde Goth Chick”? That’s what I thought from the photo!

  • Lulu says:

    @ Catherine
    What is dazzleglass?

  • andophiroxia says:

    @Lulu

    Dazzleglass is I think what they name one of their lines of lipgloss. Another one would be Luxe.

  • Catherine says:

    @Kitteh!!
    No need for an Encyclopedia, I stand behind my comment.
    He is an idiot. Perhaps you should use a dictionary to check your spelling?! ;)

  • Catherine says:

    @Lulu
    The Dazzleglass is part of the MAC HK Kouture line.
    Basically super sparkly lipgloss….

  • andophiroxia says:

    @kitteh!

    Depends if the doll was made out of leather or not! Plus the shades are something that I really don’t like. I prefer darker or more natural colors, but sometimes I do go a little much with purple and grey eyeshadow. However, the organic colors are fine on me as well.

    I wouldn’t mind BUYING some of the MAC makeup, as it is higher quality makeup in general, but I prefer Bare Minerals/Escentuals for most of my makeup ‘needs’ –as my skin for some reason doesn’t like most makeup. ;) MAC colors I’ve seen aren’t really me, save for a few pieces here and there. However, as long as Sephora carries it or it’s comparable quality–perfectly fine with me.

    There are some things you can flub about with drugstore makeup like eyeshadow and possibly lipgloss–but you get what you pay for end all.

  • Deb says:

    Love MAC – best makeup in the world. Love HK 0 but I think thay could have done better with this one….

  • Lauren says:

    I believe the Doll is basically made out of pleather. Polyurethane fakeness…but isn’t it just fabulous?! I’m getting the doll, the brush set, and a few other things maybe.

    Ando, have you ever tried Prescriptives? MAC only has two particular foundations that work on just about everyone, including people that have the tendency to breakout- Studiotech. Prescriptives has a new mineral formulation that is more than comparable to BE, there’s actually an array of colors versus BE. There’s no need for a veil or other added steps. Px is exclusively known for great ingredients and being skin-friendly. Check it out sometime.

  • Allen says:

    Is the model a real woman, or manikin?

  • Kitteh!! says:

    @ Catherine, you’re confusing an inability to speel with my inability to trype or proff-reed!! ;)

  • susana says:

    «@kellyjanice: Check out the mascara line by Chanel. Trumps MAC mascara any day. »

    I don’t know what’s the fuss around MAC, I work in a cosmetic store and there’s a huge infitniy of better brands. Makeup forever, dior, chanel, helena rubenstein, just to name a few. All MAC has is a good shade pallette, but Makeup forever can top that easily.
    By the way, that wanna be makeup artist must know very little about and how to do her job, a good makeup artist will perform good with a different range of brands and usually won’t get attached to just one.
    As for silent bob’s statemment, it’s partially true, indeed. Sad but true, and I see it with my eyes on a daily basis.

  • Catherine says:

    @KItteh!!
    You know I love your brain! (I’ve said it before.)

  • Lauren says:

    Susana, you must work at Sephora…The Wal-mart of cosmetics!!! Please correct me if I’m wrong about your place of employment but I do adore it!
    MUFE is pretty good. I use quite a bit of it. Great color payoff, pigment, wear, you name it.
    MAC isn’t the best basic face makeup around and I mentioned that. I work for several lines, so I’m not at all attached to any one line. Every line is known for a handful of products. If you’re a good makeup artist, you’d know that. The only true thing I like about MAC is the color products and tools…other than that, I’d rather spend money on other brands. That’s just my honest opinion. I actually blend my own basic face makeup, I don’t like not knowing what goes into my products.

    By the way, Chanel sucks. A $29 mascara that dries up isn’t WORTH it. I’ve noticed people return the stuff like nobody’s business. Dior blackout is great but I won’t even dare purchase it anymore, due to it’s poor packaging. The max I will pay is $21. It’s really all about the way you apply it, paying for a couture/premium line of mascara isn’t really the best product- it’s just all about the name (Chanel).

  • Miss_Silk says:

    I soo want to buy it OMG…

    but since MAC is expensive I think i’ll only be able to afford…the most is 3 items.

    The only problem is that the colors they have…are probably to bright for most and not really something you’d wear on a daily bases…

    So i’ll probably be buying something that I know I will use…but use on special occasions so it doesn’t run out ^^

    Like the lipstick, lipgloss, Maybe the Eye Shadow Quad (kinda pricy…and probably in colors you don’t normally wear…) and the basic black mascara.

    The collection will come out online on Feb.10th and in stores on Feb.12th and will run for next 8 weeks….ARG

  • Kitteh!! says:

    Serious comment on the package design. I’m reasonably happy with the design, which looks like there’s been some thought put into it, rather than just pink styrene granules and some HK decals!
    I’m not happy with the idea of HK branding on what I get the impression is fairly expensive serious adult makeup?

  • Satan wears pink says:

    I agreee Monkey! Darlene needs a muzzle :) I can paint it pink and put a cat on it for you :)

  • susana says:

    yup, i do work ate sephora, and funny enough, I have three chanel mascaras and none of them dried up yet, vs others who are already leaving lumps in my eyelashes.
    MAC is ok, but as far as concealer and foundation goes, there are plenty other brands WAY better… and some are cheaper.
    My only statemment was about your comment where you seem to worship MAC when I see other brands which are way better. Even some SEPHORA brand products can top some of them.
