This really shouldn’t be a surprise. When the evil feline is willing to create a Hello Kitty Darth Vader or a Hello Kitty Klingon, it isn’t a stretch to imagine that she would try to invade absolutely every imaginable franchise including Ghostbusters. So while my eyes bleed at the sickly pink and my brain hurts at the abomination of a Hello Kitty Ghostbusters proton pack, I can’t say that I’m really all that surprised. If you’re a fan, be prepared to weep:

I guess in a way a Hello Kitty proton pack kind of makes sense. Any ghost that saw it would instantly explode at its hideousness without it even having to be turned on which would make it very effective. Of course, the unfortunate side effect would be that the entire human population would also be spontaneously exploding upon viewing it.

And if for some reason you had superhuman tolerance to the sight of the thing and survived, Hello Kitty has a special surprise for you — it comes with the predictably annoying sound pack that will have you wanting to put yourself out of your misery as quickly as possible:

While it’s certainly true that Hello Kitty finds a variety of ways to make my life hell on a daily basis, most of the time I can take it. Then there are the days when the evil feline devastates me.

I have always had a secret celebrity crush on Zooey Deschanel. Since I had never seen a photograph of her wearing the evil feline like so many other celebrities, I’d come to assume that she was one of the sane ones out there.

So you can imagine the devastation I felt when I discovered that not only did Zooey Deschanel have this monstrosity (3rd photo down) of a Hello Kitty sewing machine, she was actually quite proud of it:

As she unfortunately states: I have a HELLO KITTY Janome sewing machine. It’s awesome. I want to believe that this is nothing more than a passing delusion and that she will come to her senses, but we all know that once Hello Kitty gets her claws into you, it’s more difficult to free yourself than from a Hello Kitty cocaine habit. Just when you think that the depths of Hello Kitty Hell can go no further, she provides yet another step that she forces you down…

It seems that the people at Sanrio have found that the reintroduction of the Hello Kitty vibrator shoulder massager has been so successful that they needed to add an attachment to their line of products and call it the Hello Kitty face massager:

While I would hope that this is used in the way it is supposed to be used (there is nothing worse in Hello Kitty Hell than seeing Kitty on kitty), I’m already terrifyingly frightened of the photos that I am likely to receive in the near future. Even more disturbing is the thought of what other type of attachments will be forthcoming if this, too, is a success…

I’m not sure exactly what the obsession is with Hello Kitty and cars (then again, I don’t understand the obsession with Hello Kitty and anything, so that isn’t saying much), but there is an annoying trend of branding every car accessory possible with the evil feline. The Hello Kitty exhaust pipe, Hello Kitty car headlights and, of course, Hello Kitty car rims are just a few of many examples. Add the Hello Kitty car door lock to the mix of these hideous car accessories:

If you ever get into a car and see these lock you in, realise that there is no way you are getting out until you reach Hello Kitty Hell…

One would assume that there were certain sports that would be free of the evil feline such as fishing. of course, this would be greatly underestimating Hello Kitty’s desire to place her face on absolutely everything. No longer can a fisherman request fishing gear as a birthday gift without the risk of something like this being given to them: The Hello Kitty fishing reel.

I can’t even imagine the Hello Kitty Hell of having to try and explain to your fishing buddies why you have to use something like this…

Life gives you a very different perspective on gadgets when you live in Hello Kitty Hell. While most people crave the latest and greatest electronic toys out there, those that share their lives with fanatics of Hello Kitty live in fear with each new popular gadget that hits the stores. This is because we know that it’s only a matter of time before that popular gadget comes in Pepto Bismol pink covered with the evil feline.

I already hate cell phones in general because of what my wife does to them. When we lived in Japan, I avoided having to live with a Hello Kitty iPhone because there were so many other cell phones that were superior to it there that my wife wanted, but now that we are back in the US, my wife is insisting that she needs an iPhone. I have no doubt that this is what it is going to ultimately look like:

This is obviously an attempt of Hello Kitty to blind everyone into submission. Either that or send everyone into Hello Kitty induced seizures. Seriously, if you are every dating someone that is carrying around something like this, run. Run fast. Run fast and far, far away. The only alternative is joining me in Hello Kitty Hell…

There are some combinations that just should never go together. Hello Kitty x Jesus. Hello Kitty x S&M room. Hello Kitty x Men’s underwear (I could go on and on, but I would rather not have your suicide attempt traced back to this blog). Of course, Hello Kitty continually adds to this list. Case and point — Hello Kitty x chainsaw:

While Hello Kitty fanatics may see something like this as cute (you have to seriously feel for the lumberjack significant other that has to carry this around at work), for the rest of us it pretty much exemplifies what any horror movie villain (or the evil feline herself) would undoubtedly use to dismember victims. In fact, The Hello Kitty Chainsaw Massacre is probably already in production and is guaranteed to be the most horrifying movie that you have ever seen. Then again, getting dismembered by Hello Kitty wielding a Hello Kitty chainsaw probably would be less painful than actually having to live in Hello Kitty Hell…

It is not often that my wife will give away things in her Hello Kitty collection, but she always has a soft heart when it comes to good causes. When we were in Japan, we used to give toys to a local orphanage. Now that we are back in the US, we needed to come up with a new project. We have set a very ambitious goal to provide a lot of food to food banks, and although we have just started, we are making a difference.

I recently heard about contest to blog about the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and while the odds of being picked to do so are long, I have decided to at least try and win. While it would certainly be cool to attend the Winter Olympics, an added benefit is that I would be in contact with a lot of Olympic athletes who I could let know about Penny Experiment and possibly help out with it. Even better, I would get to escape Hello Kitty Hell for a couple of weeks.

When I asked my wife is she would be willing to give up anything, we ran into a slight problem. The vast majority of my wife’s collection is in storage in Japan and she only brought with her essential (in her view) evil feline items. After some thought, she picked out a number of items that I will be giving away over the next 10 days or so.

Of course, in order for my wife to give up anything, I also had to make a deal with the devil. If I do end up going, I’m required to buy any Hello Kitty items that I come across (I can’t escape Hello Kitty Hell even when I will be on my own). While both terrifying and nausea inducing, I agreed to the deal for the positive benefits in furthering a good cause.

What’s worse than cleaning up around the house? Cleaning up around the house using Hello Kitty cleaning products. Nothing makes mopping the kitchen floor worse than having the evil feline staring back at you the entire time — something which happens when you have the Hello Kitty mop in your house:

I have to admit that when I first had to use this, I was tempted to get a bottle of ketchup or red food coloring and liberally spread it around the area where the handle goes into Hello Kitty’s forehead. Somehow I don’t think that my wife would appreciate that type of humor and I resisted once I realized how long I would likely end up sleeping in the Hello Kitty sleeping bag on the couch. Still, just the thought brings a smile to my face, and sometimes that is all you have to hang onto when you live in Hello Kitty Hell…

If there is one rule of thumb when living with a Hello Kitty fanatic, it is never to leave anything that you value where the Hello Kitty fanatic has access to it. Why you ask? Because if you do, you’ll end up with an Xbox controller that looks like this…
