This is why I hate this time of year. No sooner has Halloween and the celebration of whatever freaking year the evil feline has turned (does it really matter since she still looks exactly the same?) ended that I start getting emails for things like a Hello Kitty pink feather Xmas tree:

Of course, my wife loves it and immediately asked me what I thought about it which is always a no win situation in Hello Kitty Hell. If I tell her the truth that it looks like a cat got hold of a flock of pigeons and puked them up after drinking a gallon of Pepto Bismol, I would most certainly be spending the rest of the week on the couch in the Hello Kitty sleeping bag. On the other hand, if I lie and tell her that it looks nice, then there is a good chance that I will have something similar sitting in my house for the rest of the holiday season.

Unfortunately, my tactfulness is running in short supply these days due to the constant reminders that we failed to go to Three Apples (doesn’t bode well for the rest of the holiday season) and I may have let some of the cat/flock of pigeons/puke and Pepto Bismol slip out. At least I’ll be sleeping on the couch knowing that pink monstrocity won’t be our holiday tree this year which counts as a tiny victory when you are living in Hello Kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty Darth Vader Halloween Costume

I never thought I would say this (and the fact that I’m about to is further proof that things are incredibly wrong in the world), but the Hello Kitty Darth Vader is becoming downright common. First there was the photoshopped Hello Kitty Darth Vader that lead to anime convention circuit Hello Kitty Darth Vader which lead to the Hello Kitty Darth Vader combination that just should have never come into existence (with the Hello Kitty Darth Vader tattoo thrown in for good measure). So is it any surprise that the Hello Kitty Darth Vader is now seen as an acceptable Halloween costume?

They really don’t celebrate Halloween in Japan, but that doesn’t stop my wife from doing her best to bring the evil feline into the holiday anyway. The one thing that she absolutely hates is that she can’t dress up in a Hello Kitty costume like she sees so many people do in the US, but since this guide on how to create your own Hello Kitty mascot head landed in my mailbox, she’s been strongly hinting that we need to join some of the US Halloween party celebrations in costume. Hello Kitty Birthday Party

I hate my birthday. It’s not that I care that I am getting a year older, but the fear each year of what my wife will do to celebrate it. It’s never a pretty sight and no matter how much I protest, she manages to slip the evil feline into the celebration in some way. The truth is that what she would really like to do is throw me a party like this:

Upon seeing these photos, my wife immediately wanted to know why I couldn’t be a better sport about celebrating my birthday and why I insist that it be free of the evil feline. She thinks I should be a better sport and smile like this man.

Of course, she fails to notice the tightly clinched jaw that indicates that someone is about to die if this continues and the tears of shame that are welling in his eyes at the thought of what will happen when these photos hit the Internet — these moments were exactly why Hello Kitty guns were created and you know that any jury would forgive any massacre that occurred.

This, however, does me little good. Now that my wife has proof that another man has smiled his way through the most horrendous torture imaginable, she believes that there is a way to get me to do the same. Did I mention that I hate my birthday?
