One thing that you learn quickly when you live with a Hello Kitty fanatic is that you are never safe from the evil feline when traveling. That’s because no matter where in the world you might be, there is a good chance that a Hello Kitty store exists — and the one universal truth for those living in Hello Kitty Hell is that if there is a Hello Kitty store to be found, the Hello Kitty fanatic will find it. Take these photos and story as a classic example:

Got sucked into this store not one, but TWICE with my wife while on vacation in Verona, Italy. Every possible piece of junk they could stick the face onto was there, for sale, and 4x the price in Euros that it should cost. Worst of all, there were THREE floors to this joint. — RT

I know exactly how this poor soul feels because that is exactly what happens every time my wife and I take a trip. Actually it is even worse these days because most of our trips are planned around actually going to see some Hello Kitty event so there is no “chance” in the equation.

I can tell you that there is nothing more disheartening than visiting a country and spending most of your time in Hello Kitty themed shops rather than the historic places that it offers. Just another reason why you never want to find yourself living in Hello Kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty Bus

You would think that the one time that I could somewhat escape Hello Kitty Hell is when my wife and I take weekend trips around Japan. Yes, there will be the evil feline in every store and shop we walk into, but at least I can escape for a short period as we actually travel. That, of course, assumes that the Hello Kitty fanatic doesn’t know about the many Hello Kitty buses that dot Japan (which my wife most definitely does):

Now I know what you’re thinking. If Hello Kitty is on the outside, then it’s only the people on the street that have to deal with her. Of course, those of you thinking that have greatly underestimated the terror that Sanrio has in store for anyone that has to sit in a Hello Kitty tour bus:

Yep, after riding around for a day having to look at that interior, you will be ready to throw yourself in front of any large vehicle heading in the opposite direction at high speed — because even getting run over by an 18 wheeler would be far less painful than having to endure another minute inside that bus…

Hello Kitty Tent

It’s a given when you live in Hello Kitty Hell that something worse than what you have already seen will come along. You know it’s going to happen and you just prepare yourself for that that day coming down the road. What is not anticipated is that the horror will show up so quickly in your email box. In response to the Hello Kitty camper, you knew that there would be a Hello Kitty tent out there:

There is no possible way that all the Hello Kitty beer and Hello Kitty sake could drown away the nightmarish image of having to wake up in something like that. Might as well find the Hello Kitty camping knife, take out your own eyes — and heart just for good measure — because that would be a hundred times less painful than having to admit to any living being that you actually went camping in one of these.

While the camper is a horrendous injustice to anyone that is sane, at least it can withstand the rocks and sticks that the wildlife would undoubtedly begin to throw at you for disturbing the wilderness. The Hello Kitty tent, on the other hand, basically is asking for a bear to come in and eat you as a snack (to the applause of all the other forest animals for getting rid of a complete eyesore).

Hello Kitty Camper

The weather is getting nicer and when you’re in Hello Kitty Hell, the number one priority is to get out of the house and as far away from the Hello Kitty mess inside as possible. That, of course, was my thinking when asking my wife to go camping, but it seems that the evil feline can’t even leave the great outdoors in peace with the existence of the Hello Kitty camper:

My wife and I had completely different thoughts upon seeing this monstrosity. She thought it was the perfect way for us to spend the summer traveling around the country seeing the great outdoors. I thought it was the perfect time to buy that Hello Kitty assault rifle, spray the front hitting the propane tank and watching the whole thing go up in flames (at least that would be a Hello Kitty campfire that I could enjoy). Obviously it’s going to be a long summer in Hello Kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty House

What would be worse than a house full of Hello Kitty crap? How about a Hello Kitty House full of Hello Kitty crap?

It’s seems some resort in Taiwan got the bright idea that building Hello Kitty houses could somehow be a positive thing (obviously nobody at the company lives with a Hello Kitty fanatic) and completely disregarding the torment they would inflict upon us. My wife simply said, “I’ve found my dream house!” which certainly is not a good sign when you live in Hello Kitty Hell.

The sad thing is that if the house would remain like shown in the photos, it would actually be better than my current living conditions, but you know that it would be merely a matter of hours before the whole place resembled a Hello Kitty flea market with my wife’s collection all over the place. My wife has already started her search to plan our vacation there which pretty much ensures a Hello Kitty Hellish holiday…

Hello Kitty Japanese Goodwill Tourism Ambassador

I should have known that Hello Kitty Hell would not let me off that easily. After receiving over 20 emails yesterday about this I thought I could avoid the entire thing by placing a small blurb at the end of a post saying that I was aware and that everyone that visits here can stop sending me emails about it. Of course, in a non Hello Kitty Hell world that would mean that people would stop sending me emails about this and the entire horrific episode could be quickly forgotten as I pretended it never happened — but since I do live in hello Kitty Hell, it instead opened the floodgates and I can now assume that every person that has ever seen this blog has informed me of this news – Hello Kitty has been given an official title and made “goodwill tourism ambassador” of Japan to China and Hong Kong:

While all the Hello Kitty fanatics think this is the greatest thing ever, those that live in Hello Kitty Hell know this is just the first step in a master plan. They probably have sealed a deal where every tourist is given a Hello Kitty “shoulder massager” to release the stress on the long trip over here. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s that long before you see the evil feline running for Japanese prime minister.

While the entire concept that the Japanese government is embracing Hello Kitty (I guess they realize how many fanatics there are out there and what they are willing to spend to get anything Hello Kitty and figured it would revive the Japanese economy) is scary, what is even scarier about it is that there are far too many people that read this blog that sent me the news. The scariest part, however, is that when writing about it, most did so with an unabashed thrill on the torture they knew it would bring to me. In fact, emails gloating about the torture news like this must bring to me outnumbered ones of sympathy about 10 to 1 (then again, anyone who was truly sympathetic to my plight would have never sent me the link in the first place). Yet one more thing to add heat to the fires stoking my Hello Kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty Vienna

It’s a simple question. If you save up money to take a romantic trip to Vienna with your significant other, how would you most want to spend your time?

If you have a Hello Kitty fanatic in your life, you already know the answer…forget the culture, forget the sights, forget the romance, forget the history and head straight for the Hello Kitty shop:

This picture reflects how a holiday to beautiful Vienna can be ruined when finding Kitty World down a side street. Hours upon hours were spent, while missing out on all the sights Vienna has to see…fun

The problem with any type of traveling you do with a Hello Kitty fanatic is that the trip ultimately turns into a Hello Kitty search quest. Even worse, if there is anything Hello Kitty within 100 miles of where you are visiting, the Hello Kitty fanatic’s radar will somehow hone in on it, take you there and ensure that the vast majority of the vacation is spent with the evil feline. That pretty much sums up every vacation I have ever taken while in Hello Kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty Hotel Room Video

The things about Hello Kitty fanatics is that they take something Hello Kitty that is already unbearable like the Hello Kitty hotel room (which one would assume could never get any worse) and combine it into a video with a song that takes it to as yet unknown nauseating level (warning: play the video at your own risk…)

I warned you. After listening to that once, I would rather have to listen to someone scratching their fingernails against a chalkboard for hours on end than listen to that again. Of course, my wife thinks it’s the “cutest thing ever” so it’s only a matter of time before it makes it way onto her playlist – ahhhh, the things I get to look forward to living in Hello kitty Hell…

Hello Kitty Airport

If you are a non Hello Kitty fanatic, you probably can’t conceive of anything worse than flying on a Hello Kitty airplane for the holidays, but when it comes to the Hell that Hello Kitty places all Hello Kitty fanatic partners into, a Hello Kitty airplane would never suffice. If you’re going to go to the trouble of building a Hello Kitty airplane, you might as well also build a Hello Kitty airport:

While my wife thinks that this is the greatest idea in the world and now wants to travel on the Hello Kitty airplane even more, this is the type of thing that places the last straw on the camel’s back before breaking it. It would not surprise me in the least bit if they have to provide numerous Hello Kitty barf bags to all the Hello Kitty fanatic partners who are forced to suffer through this.

While I don’t normally support terrorist actions, if a group decided to take over this airport and bomb the building, I think they would be doing a service to mankind and receive the support of millions of people for whatever cause they may have. Since this is unlikely to happen, and since at some point I’m going to be forced to endure this torture, if you happen to see some guy continually barfing into a Hello Kitty barf bag in a corner attempting to shield himself of all the horror surrounding him, feel free to give your sympathy (while bringing some extra barf bags) to someone living in Hello Kitty Hell — it just might be me…
